Self Awareness Series: The Sanguine

Knowledge is power I believe! There are some kinds of knowledge you acquire that settles your worries on some issues - for life! Relationships get frustrating when couples, friends parents do not get to Know who they are dealing with.  Business, Religious and Social Organisations crumble because of the failure of leader to understand the personalities behind their team and maximize them for the growth of their organization.
In our self awareness series, we will be giving credence and amplitude to the discovery of the traditional psychologist and physicians. Our First consideration is the Sanguine.

Sanguine:
The Sanguine is a very social person who likes to be with people. Of all the temperaments, the Sanguine is the easiest to be around socially. They are outgoing, handshaking, and quick to make friends. They bring life and energy into a room by their very presence. Perhaps you can remember some people you've met in that category. Their cheerfulness and humor brighten everywhere they are present. They are an optimistic type of person who believes life is an exciting and fun-filled experience that should be lived to the fullest and when they have nothing to do, they can be restless. The Sanguine is the most impulsive of all the temperaments.

The Sanguine excels in communication and socially oriented things, but they when it comes to tasks, they can be uninteresting. They are the least disciplined and organized of all the temperaments. While they are outgoing, enthusiastic, warm, compassionate, and seem to relate well to other people’s feelings, yet they can be rude and uncaring. They tend not to be faithful nor loyal friends, since they do not want to be “burdened down” with commitments; they just want to have fun.
They have tendencies to live as though they have no past or future, the Sanguine rarely learns from their past mistakes. They are prone to exaggerate. They never recognize their failures, but exaggerate to make themselves appear to be more successful than they truly are. The Sanguine’s major weakness is that they adopt severe and destructive behavior.

This person will volunteer for difficult tasks and they can and will complete the project so long as their ego is being fed. However, at the first sign indicating that they are not “the greatest thing that ever happened to the world,” the quit! They just stop and walk away and inwardly turn into themselves - caring nothing about the project or those depending upon them. They just want to be the cynosure and the focus of everybody.

Easily devastated if not constantly reassured they are loved and appreciated. Very demanding of other people for love and affection, plagued with feelings of jealousy when the love and attention they feel belongs exclusively to them is given to others.

SUMMARY
Friendly, outgoing, inspiring to others, relationship oriented, enthusiastic, warm, optimistic, ability to see the bright side of life and the good in other people. They genuinely like people, are rarely found alone, and freely interact with people.

Talkative, always the center of the conversation, apt to take on behavior and morals of the people around them, impulsive, undisciplined, rude, prone to exaggerate, need to appear successful (even to the point of exaggeration), will ignore responsibilities in order to be with people.

Lacking persistence and weak-willed, Solicitous, caring person who will do things for other people, almost to the point of servitude. A very charming, gracious person. Takes on responsibilities and makes decisions very well (to a point).

Able to express and receive large amounts of love and affection. They are warm and easy to get to know and emotionally open.

Where Did All the Money Go?

Hmmm... I'm sure you will really want to know where money has been hiding all this while.
It will amaze you to know that every currency produced haven't left the planet earth. Aliens had never been reported on CNN to have come rob the planet earth at any time. Then the question remains, Where did all the money go and why the scarcity in money circulation?
The truth is that in a country like Nigeria, there are individuals whose wealth is worth that of some African nations. So you will agree with me that the money we seek can be found with people. An armed robber clearly understands this fact and believes he can get the money he needs when he uses some forceful medium. The beggar on the street understands this fact and so doesn't go and beg the trees for money. Instead, he stays at the corner of the street begging to get his share. Very interesting, isn't it?
Wow! I just feel like staying here on this point. So we could take some good time in meditation. "The Money you need and will ever need resides in the hand of people". Since we now agree that money doesn't leave the earth, it then means that all that happens is just Wealth Transfer.

Hmmm! Now see this truth; wealth isn't just transfered to you because it must keep circulating, it is transferred in response to your ability to attract it. Those who steal lack the ability to attract money hence they break the principle of money attraction.
Hear the good news: No matter how tight-fisted a man is, his stingy nature will always submit to the law of value and reward. In essence, money flows from a solution seeker to a solution giver.
Now here is another interesting angle to this discourse. When we talk about solution provision, we are not always referring to the production of commodities to meet human needs. The fact that some people have thought about trading in goods before they could meet human needs has handicapped them from even getting involved in the process of value creation. Have you ever considered that every human loves to be honored? Or have you noticed that everyone wants to be loved? And if closely observed, you will see that these seemingly light areas of human needs are mostly ignored. What is that thing that makes a man eager to give out some cash when he is honoured? What is that thing that makes God go extra mile in His mercy when he is maximally praised?  Good character and conducts amongst men can be your biggest commodity that will settle your bills for life! Let's hold on here for now.

SELF KNOWLEDGE

Know Yourself

In Ancient Greece, the philosopher Socrates famously declared that the unexamined life was not worth living. Asked to sum up what  all philosophical commandments could be reduced to, he replied: ‘Know yourself.’
Knowing yourself has extraordinary prestige in our culture. It has been framed as quite literally the meaning of life.

This sounds, when one hears it, highly plausible, yet so plausible it’s worth pausing to ask a few more questions. Just why is self-knowledge such a prestigious good? What are the dangers that come with a lack of self-knowledge? And what do we in fact need to know about ourselves? How do we come to learn such things? And why is self-knowledge difficult to attain?

1. What is the purpose of my life

What are you trying to achieve with your life. Fast forward to the end of your life and ask yourself what you would like to be remembered for when it’s all done. What difference would you like to have made? What contribution would you like to have made to your family, friends, community etc.? Once you know your purpose, your purpose should then shape your goals and everyday actions, allowing you to create the life you want to live.
Have you heard of Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren? Maybe you should just go read that.

2. What are my values?

Values are personal qualities and characteristics. They are like rules for life which guide your decision making in the most crucial moments. Sadly, values are often forgotten but when you live in contradiction to your values, you will struggle to be happy. For example, if you value honesty, how would you feel about stealing money from somebody else in order to buy something you want?
In all likelihood, you would be completely opposed to the idea. That is values in action. There are many more potential values which guide you; though they are not all as obvious as that. It is important that you have clarity about your values so that you can make the right choices when it matters most.

3. What really makes me tick?

You can be just about anything you want to be in life but many of your greatest achievements, will require large quantities of effort, commitment and dedication. Always remember that self-improvement is not just about the physical or philosophical change you have to undergo, but it’s something that you must really want because if you don’t really want something; you are likely to give up before you achieve your objective.
Therefore, before you set your goals, it is important that you know what makes you tick before you start setting goals which you are not truly motivated to achieve.

4. What do I really want from life?

Life is not all about giving either. You must be able to derive some enjoyment from life and a great deal of this enjoyment will come from the achievement of your goals. We have already covered some of the things you must consider before you set goals, now you must identify the things you would like to be, do and have. When doing so, it is important that you consider all of the important areas of your life so that you can design a well balanced, successful and, stress-free life.

5. Am I prepared to change?

Achieving goals and objectives requires a great deal of personal growth and change. However, the element of change is often forgotten. Resistance to change can be one of the biggest factors in failing to achieve your goals. It is a form of self sabotage. Before you set off on your new adventure, it is important to ask yourself ‘Am I prepared to make the necessary changes?’ It is one of the most important but least used personal development questions.

6. What do I like about my life?

There is no need to throw the baby out with the bathwater. When you make changes to your life, it is imperative that you only change that which needs to change. To ensure this, regularly take the time to identify and be grateful for the positives in your life. Then, when making plans for self improvement; plan to maintain or increase the things that you like.

7. Have I done enough for myself?

This is another often forgotten, personal development question. This is one that, when you answer honestly, can have a dramatic effect. Sometimes when you fail to achieve a goal; you will have set the right goal and, you will have set the right plan. The problem will be that you have not done everything you could to make it happen.
Often, when we fail to get what we want, we look for someone to blame. Sadly, this often leads us to point the finger at others, rather than accept that we are the source of the problem.
Before you go rushing into new goals and objectives, there are some very important personal development questions that you need to ask yourself. These personal development questions will better enable you to determine where you are in life along with, where you would like to be and what you need to do to get there. The more you understand your life, the greater your chance of success. Ask yourself these personal development questions regularly and you will make better, more effective decision about your life and the actions you need to take.
